Makar sankranti


Makar Sankranti is a harvest festival celebrated in major regions of India. According to the lunar calendar, when the sun moves from the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn or Dakshinayana Uttarayana to the month of Poush in mid-January, it commemorates the beginning of the harvest season and the cessation of the northeast monsoon in South India.Makar Sankranti in 2011.
